Vision Grant

LFND Vision Grant Program

Funds for this grant program were made available to the Foundation by transfer of assets from the previously existing ND Lions Eye Bank in accordance with the fund agreement signed by the two organizations.  This program is renewed each year, with possible modifications.  See the current year’s application for latest terms and conditions.

Any ND Lions Club in good standing with Lions Clubs International may submit one or more vision grant applications, using forms provided by LFND. A club may not receive more than $1,500 in Vision grant funds in any fiscal year.  Grant applications will be considered at each quarterly meeting of LFND until all funds identified by LFND for that fiscal year ($7,500 in 2023-2024) have been awarded.

.

.Grants will be 50% reimbursement match, up to $1,500 ($3,000 documented expenses of applicant), of club funds spent for vision-related activities/equipment/procedures.  Applicant must provide proof of current FY prior expenditures with the grant application.  This proof may be copies of cancelled checks, paid invoices, or receipts.

Beginning on 1 Jul 2023, an alternative method of receiving a vision grant was approved by the Foundation.  This method allows any ND Lions Club to received the 50% reimbursement for a donation to an approved Vision Assistance Cooperative.  Details about this option and the list of approved Cooperatives are included with the FY 2023-2024 Vision Grant Application (link below).

.

In order to insure a grant application is considered, it should be received by the Executive Director of the Lions Foundation of North Dakota not less than 30 days prior to a Foundation Board of Directors meeting.  Applications received less than 30 days prior to a board meeting may be considered at the discretion of the Executive Director and Board of Directors.  The proposed meeting dates for each fiscal year are listed on the grant application form, or can be obtained from the Foundation’s Executive Director.
